AXA Health Recognised Clinical Psychologist

Psychological therapy covered by AXA Health insurance

with Dr Georgina Dobson | HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist

Looking for a Clinical Psychologist who accepts AXA health insurance?

I'm Dr Georgina Dobson, an HCPC-registered and AXA Health-recognised Clinical Psychologist offering online psychological therapy.

If you have private health insurance with AXA Health, your policy may cover psychological therapy with me, depending on your benefits and the treatment authorised by AXA.

Whether you're experiencing anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, or feeling stuck in patterns you want to change, I offer a warm, collaborative and individualised approach to therapy. Together, we can explore what's happening, develop a deeper understanding of your experiences and work towards changes that matter to you.

Using Your AXA Health Insurance for Psychological Therapy

If you're covered by AXA Health, you may be able to access psychological therapy as part of your mental health benefits.

Your eligibility will depend on your individual policy, the type of treatment you need and AXA's authorisation requirements. I'll help you understand the steps involved in arranging therapy, so you can focus on finding the right support.

How to Access AXA-Funded Therapy

1. Get in touch

Contact me to discuss what you're looking for from therapy and whether my approach might be a good fit for you. You're welcome to ask questions before deciding whether to proceed.

2. Check your AXA Health cover

Contact AXA Health to confirm that your policy includes psychological therapy and that treatment with me is eligible for funding. Ask whether you need a GP referral and whether any excess, session limits or other restrictions apply.

3. Arrange your referral and authorisation

Follow AXA's instructions for obtaining any required referral and treatment authorisation. Make sure your proposed treatment and appointments are approved before starting therapy.

4. Arrange your initial appointment

Once the necessary arrangements are in place, we can organise your first appointment and begin exploring your difficulties, goals and what you would like to get from therapy.

What Can I Help With?

People come to therapy for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes there's a particular difficulty you want help with. Other times, you might feel overwhelmed, disconnected or stuck without fully understanding why. You can read more about how therapy can help, and the different therapeutic approaches I use here.

I work with a wide range of psychological and emotional difficulties, including:

  • Anxiety, excessive worry and panic

  • Eating difficulties (including restrictive eating, binge-eating, bulimia nervosa and ARFID)

  • Depression and low mood

  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)

  • Trauma and difficult life experiences

  • Relationship and attachment difficulties

  • Low self-esteem and self-criticism

  • Stress, burnout and perfectionism

  • Grief, loss and significant life changes

  • Emotional regulation difficulties

  • Difficulties associated with neurodivergence

You don't need to have a diagnosis or know exactly what you want to work on before reaching out.

My approach is integrative and evidence-based, drawing on different psychological models to understand your experiences and tailor therapy to your individual needs.

Online Psychological Therapy Across the UK

I offer online psychological therapy, giving you the opportunity to access support from your own home, wherever you are in the UK.

Online sessions can make it easier to fit therapy around work, family commitments and everyday life, without the additional time and stress of travelling to appointments.

I aim to create a space where you feel heard, understood and accepted, while also supporting you to explore difficult experiences, recognise unhelpful patterns and work towards meaningful change.

If you intend to use your AXA Health insurance, please confirm that your policy covers online appointments with me before beginning treatment.

Why Choose to Work With a Clinical Psychologist?

Clinical Psychologists are trained to understand psychological difficulties in the wider context of a person's life, including their relationships, experiences, environment and the ways they've learned to cope.

My clinical experience across NHS and private settings, alongside training in a range of evidence-based psychological therapies, informs my thoughtful and individualised approach to understanding and supporting each person I work with.

I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. My work is trauma-informed, neuroaffirming and sensitive to your individual identity, culture, relationships and experiences.

Rather than focusing only on reducing symptoms, I'm interested in helping you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, recognise patterns that may no longer be serving you and find ways forward that feel right for you.
